Window to myself
// I stand in the sky, comfortably still
.
I see a wooden frame; a window
With a touch of eery familiar
Inside it, absolute dark
I reach out with my arm
To the frame, and the glass vanishes
Slowly, I dip my hand into the frame
My hand crawls on the wall like a spider
On it, I find a switch
Instinctively I press it down
The spotlight shines
Inside, darkness deafened
I recall the frame
Just as my view lights up
It’s my room
And I see myself
Some four feet tall with that army cut
One which I never liked
.
I see myself smiling naively
Staring at the screen
With my beyblade still in my hand
I remember the day now
It was the day I got it
And lost it too
“Hold tight!” I shout
But the Words never reach my ears
Unabashed I laugh again
On Nobita this time
“Listen to me!” I go again
Afraid to relive the pain
But to no avail
And it goes dark again
.
The frame; now translucent
Just a hint of light on the other side
To see a silhouette of a man on the other side
I reach out again
With my arm to the frame
Cracking sound ensues as I feel the numbing touch
A shard from the translucent falls
On the silhouette
And I see myself again
Jumping, balancing on one leg
As blood spews from the other
And the I in the frame, shouts
Until I—passes out
And it goes dark again
.
I close my eyes
Am I dreaming?
Overwhelmed with the wounded memoirs
And scared on what the glass might show me next
.
I open my eyes
It wasn’t a dreary dream
Because I see myself, again
In the present, in the mirror.
.

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).
If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.
If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.
