Week 17 Update - Complication SURVIVER
Week 17 Post Op
Wanted to give you guys an update. Especially with the influx recently of the complication stories and removal stories.
Week 3 I developed a very bad infection. I ended up in the ER because I wasn’t able to reach my surgeon. I was given IVs with antibiotics and an oral antibiotic. My surgeon stressed removal, I told him I wanted to wait and exhaust all options before I went back for another surgery.
Week 7 I had fully beaten the infection and was recovering well but now I had discovered a large protruding edge on the left side of my penis. In addition I discovered that my doctor had misaligned my PENUMA when he inserted it, so the opening was slightly on the left not the bottom of my penis making my minor protrusion seem larger. Again, my surgeon said that he wanted to see me to remove it. I again stressed I didn’t want to rush to that point. I settled on being okay with the protrusion as long as it functioned well (more on this later)
Week 12 - one of the biggest issues appeared. My incision reopened to the point where I was able to physically see the PENUMA implant. My surgeon swore to me that it was because I had an infection, but local doctors did CT scans, blood work and wound cultures and determined that I had no infection. My surgeon said that I did and he wanted to do an emergency removal. At this point I declined to work with him anymore, every issue instead of a care plan he stressed removal and would refuse to work with local doctors. Not a good sign.
It was discovered that the incision he made was located differently than other incisions in other PENUMA patients. Mine, for some reason, he decided to put directly at the base of my penis at a point of high stress. His answer to this, 3 months after I got it done, was that he had read about it and thought I would like it. He never got my consent to experiment on me and obviously it caused issues.
I decided to go with professional wound care to attempt to keep my PENUMA
Week 17 update - no current complications. I have a very minor drainage from my incision while my wound continues to heal. Everything is functional, I’m in no pain. Even my protrusion has lessened.
I’ve gained back some length, not all but some.
My girth increased from 4” to 5.5” at the top - 6.0” at the base
Complications can be beaten my friends. Removal comes with its own set of risks and complications so please don’t rush back to surgery. Consider all options before you make another permanent decision. PENUMA is an investment in yourself. I understand everyone is different but I’ve basically had the worst happen to me, I’ve gone through a lot and I’ve been able to keep my new, thicker penis happy and healthy.
