Help. Just had a retear after seemingly being cured :(

I visited my surgeon on 4/13 and he said I was healed. I had taken GTN, nifed, and diltz up to that point, and diltz is what healed me up. After a hard stool today (5/15) I saw some blood on my toilet paper, I immediately applied diltz to the wound. What should I do? I had a taste of what normal life was like and I don’t want to go back to living like this. please help me i don’t know what i’m going to do

Old fissures take long time to heal and retear are sometimes normal, just keep your diet and don’t give up. I have talked to people that their healing process took more than 6 months and they had couple of retears. Whenever u think u might have hard stool use latex gloves to help the bm(it’s doesn’t sound fun but better than retear)

Is your re-tear as painful as the original fissure. Sometimes re-tears are superficial which heal quickly with the same medication. Chronic Anal fissures needs to be managed for 2-3 years. That’s how long it takes for the remnant scar tissues of the healed fissure to develop good tensile strength to withstand BM. When the fissure is healed, you still need to follow your diet regimen for 2-3 years.

I’d rest and give it a day or two. Maybe it’s just irritated and it’s not an actual retear.

I am so sorry to hear this but for this next week take laxative, apply dilt, apply lidocaine/anesthetic prior to poop preemptively. I hope you don’t face pain or symptoms. Stay strong my friend, happy thoughts = happy hormones = better outcomes.

So sorry, but ive been there multiple times.2 months symptom free, then even a slightly hard or large stool retore me. Now im back to applying gtn and taking sitz bath. From my experience, we should make sure our stool is still soft by taking a stool softener for as long as we can.....or LIS.
