EM blames our store for their child breaking stuff
I used to work at a common national convenience store. There was an aisle in the store for wine/hard liquor, which is located next to the photo department (which is where I spent most of my time in those days). The aisle is practically full of bottles, down both sides.
EM was at the photo counter in some sort of interaction with me (don't know if she had complaints, making an order, or picking up an order. Can't remember, doesn't matter to the story.) She had her young child with her (pre-kindergarten age maybe) and he was floating around her, she wasn't paying much attention to him during our interaction.
Then suddenly, there was a loud bursting sound and her little angel was standing in a puddle of red wine and pieces of a large glass wine bottle.
EM says "Oh No!" and walks over and scoops up her precious child and immediately her tone changes as she looks to me and says "Your store shouldn't have bottles where kids can grab them and break them."
I wasn't really following her reasoning, and I suppose my face exposed my confusion and she wasn't satisfied with my lack of apology for not baby proofing the store so she asked for a manager to whom she told the same thing. My store manager, bless her heart, also didn't quite understand what exactly we did wrong.
EM was low-key frustrated with us as if we were trying to inadvertently say it was her and her child's fault for breaking our merchandise (which, let's be real, we were) and she left after her transaction.
The store manager and I then cleaned up the wine and glass shards.
