Am I the only one who has problems with the tone in every episode?

I love the show, but i feel like the tone is often inconsistent. Like I'm really having a moment and then... Kevin is being Kevin out of no where, or Tribore apears out of no where, or Gary says something stupid. Like, please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like this...

I get what you mean, like when (ep9 spoiler) >!Clarence just died, dropping his family picture, and his friend cracks a joke about dinner!<

I try to overlook it, really like the show, and episodes 7 and 8 were really good for tonal focus

they did that a few episodes before too

something very serious happened and then Gary was joking

I also don't think the weekly episode format works for this show

it's better as a binge.

The show's been like that since the very start, it's just Olans writing style and is very much a deliberate choice. That being said, can see why it's not everyones cup of tea. Personally, I really like it - feel it keeps the show from becoming too grim while the narrative unfolds.

Idk, think I'm just fed up of shows with a long term plot consistently devolving into grimdark/edgy/sombre tones. Love that Final Space has a legitimate, serious plot but isn't afraid to break the tension and make the audience laugh

You can have a good distance between the 2 without it being jarring, in venture Bros for example one episode has a bit where a character thinks everyone’s going to die and it’s played pretty emotionally, while there’s a running gag about excessive masturbation

I’d say you can have emotional scenes not get interrupted without making a show grim

Oh I'm not denying that a show can have comedic elements without detracting from the emotional/serious/etc scenes. I'm saying it's very much a deliberate stylistic choice on behalf of the writers.

At the end of the day, some people will like that style and some people will find it too jarring - both are completely valid opinions, personal taste is one of the most subjective things there is.

That being said - Final Space has used this writing style since episode one, complaining that they continue the narrative style of juxtaposing the serious with the silly seems odd to me. The show's literally always been like that, why do people expect that to suddenly change?

What scene in VBros are you referring to?

!The prom episode, the entire time they’re trying to find out what a rusty venture is, the scene I specifically talked about was the ending between Brock and Molotov, but 21’s arc works too!<

All people notices, but the most fanatics of the series do not care about the tone or the conveniences and just "go with the flow" of the emotions and dont care if it is logic.

It definitely has MCU syndrome, where a joke needs to be cracked every 5 minutes because it can't trust its audience to handle prolonged serious moments.

That being said, I still enjoy the show greatly and episodes 8 and 9 were some of its best ones in spite of KVN's moments slightly derailing them.

I thought this too while watching the funeral precession with kvn singing but then I thought “the crazy robot created by a madman must grieve also and I suppose that’s the way an insane person who is never sad must grieve too” and then it made it more sad.
