greetings from the cold dark
Ah, my favourite place
Greetings from beyond the grave!
Well met!
Yes! Well met indeed
Well met!

god I wish auto squelch was a default option
I'm with you man.
I'd pay gold for the function...
I've never insta-muted, and I've had someone spam emotes maybe once or twice in total. I really don't get why there's a perceived problem.
Well arent you lucky...experiences may vary.
I wish Hearthstone had an auto-mute option like Arena does.
I wish.

I greet everyone. This meme resonates with me, but the comment thread has made me sad. I am just saying hello :(
Legit. Just thinking that there are people who instantly squelch you at the beginning of a match is quite sad.
Not to mention you might not be able to hear the mirror Greetings emote if you happen to come across another player using the same skin as you.
I used ot tilt a lot in Hearthstone but since I started instantly squelching people at the start of the game my enjoyment of it shot through the roof.
I am no longer bothered by bad rng because it happens sometimes and my head canon is that everyone is a great person that doesn't emote/bm.
I can still tell when they’re emoting though because I can see the red outline that goes around their hero when they hover over it, meaning they probably clicked to emote.
I won’t instantly squelch you. But the moment you send a single emote, greeting or otherwise I will immediately squelch you.
Are you that afraid of human interaction?
Yes, I'm afraid of human interaction, because some people are annoying and unpleasant.
Some people get tilted from the other player BMing them. Squelching helps prevent this for them.
Get off your high horse.
I would hardly consider an emote in a video game from a complete stranger “human interaction”
But to answer your question, no I’m not “afraid” of human interaction, I’m just not interested in it.
Just because its not indepth doesn't make it any less human interaction. You're both humans. You're both emoting or not emoting. Thus human interaction regardless of how shallow it is.
If you squelch for one emote regardless of context then why not just squelch beforehand?
Not OP, but related scenario (sort of). I auto-squelch, but sometimes I forget, and greetings remind me to do it. So they're a good thing for me, lol. But it can come across as squelching because of the emote. Which is true, at least in the sense that I wouldn't have squelched otherwise. At least I greet back before pulling the trigger (?)
Seeing my portrait light up briefly let’s me know I’m playing against a pussy👹
No you're just playing against someone who was clearly right to squelch you.
Right?! Here’s the perfect example of the kind of loser who spams emotes all game long.
If only every "Hello" emote was actually a kind greeting.
Nothing worse than for example Duels where you may want to say hello, but end up saying "It's not a competition, I'm too good!" And feel like you're BMing.
That's my main gripe with Duels. Forget balance issues and whatnot. It's the fact the voice lines just aren't very nice at all. Warlock saying Well played is "Are you actually learning??" Or Rogue "Youre awfully good for someone who shouldn't be doing this." Which is like, ultimate BM.
And if I ever concede, it actually makes me feel frustrated. Nothing worse than already being hopeless and conceding, then your hero says "URGH I'VE HAD ENOUGH!" ... Then instead of actually playing another match, you agree, you've had enough, and close the game.
It makes all of Duels feel like everyone there is rude. Really annoys me. Sorry for the rant.
Just make the emote you click actually do what it says. What is it with games these days not actually selecting the dialogue you want
Surprisingly Rattlegore is the most polite duels character.
Grunt
your academic career will be in tatters.
Riiight thaaanks.
Not only in duels but also with some skins. I have the rogue skin that you can choose when you finish the tavern pass and her well played is "What's sharper, your wits or your blade?" Now I guess I should interpret that as a compliment but I can't help but feel like I'm insulting my opponent's intelligence.
Yeah, something in the tone of voice tells me she doesn't think the blade isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
Ive never seen a community that is so sensitive. Oh no the priest is about to beat you and is spamming thank you? how terrible!!!
For me, it is not about the emotes themselves, it's about the bmer intentions. And the vast majority of them only dare to treat strangers like that because they are hiding behind a screen
Well if you play a lot of games in a day it start to add up.
how do these people survive day to day life.
Well met!
I greet you.
I love the way guldan says this. It’s so… idk
I greet back then squelch just to be sure.
Well played
I am playing Rogue exclusively. And her greeting always bothers me.
What does it mean "Pleasure is mine". Is it a common thing? I can imagine it as an response to "Nice to meet you.", but if you say it first, it sounds weird.
Your actually playing the dating sim class. That’s your flirt emote.
“I WILL BE YORR DEATH!” is my favourite greeting In the game, lol.
But only if they say hello first, then immediately shout it.
Always funny.
It’s kind of sucks reading all these comments. I say hi at the beginning of every match and I throw in a well played at the end win or lose. I use wow when people make cool plays. I play my turn quickly and don’t use threats or oops if they do something wrong. I just want to be friendly!
I mean, it's cool that you're greeting me, but maybe you could have done it at the beginning instead of right before you lethal me.
Well meet
HELLO HELLO HELLO!
Helloooo!
Hello!
Happy feast of Winterwale, Champion!
If I greet them back then furter emoting and BMing is much more likely to happen, since they know I see what they say and they think there will be a reaction. Squelch is a blessing.
That's why you greet back and THEN squelch them, lol.
People who emote asap are more likely to BM later... I'll take my chances with squelching thanks.
But when you can BM them back as you win ... that’s satisfying
From my experience people who greet you within 0.2 seconds (while your mulligan is still loading) are the worst trolls, everyone who waits a goddam second for you to load is a actually a very fine person.
i feel bad when i greet back cuz thunder king's grettings doesn't sound like greetings at all
The only reason I don’t like the uther skin from the new rewards track is how he sounds like he’s about to beat you to death with his new greeting
I always think people who greet me are always baiting me to greet back, so I let my guard down and don't squelch them. Then when they're on top or on the verge of beating me, they show their true self and bm me to make me feel terrible.
When a Big Priest or Spell Hunter said Greetings at the start of the game, you just know they were holding Barnes.
People who greet you on t1 usually don't BM
Who else? From my experience, people who use emotes frequently are the ones who BM.
The people who spam emotes aren't usually the ones emoting "greetings" when the game starts
Correct. I’ve always found this to be true. BMers only start spamming they second they know they’re going to win like the cowards they are.
I use emotes a lot, but i never BM
That’s incredible!
Does BM'ing really get to you that much? I mean they're prerecorded voice lines
Yes.
greet back and squelch after
Yup only get greetings from people have the nut rolls in hand
You found me
