Hi I'm Meg, CEO of Atolla, a beauty tech company that has over 2 million data points from at home skin testing and holds a patent for our skincare customization process. I'm a young venture-backed, female founder that started all of this while a student at MIT. AMA!
Hi Reddit, Meg Maupin here to talk to you about building a revolutionary beauty tech company as an MIT grad student, and the most critical things I've learned along the way about skin and starting an innovative business. Almost 3 years ago I did my first AMA as we were just getting started!
My company Atolla is on a mission to change the mass skincare model. Using a patented process developed at MIT, we design custom skincare products with complementary ingredients tailored to your skin needs each month. We were first to market in developing an home skin test which measures user's oil, moisture, and pH levels, as well as other data points like their diet, lifestyle habits, allergies, and the other products. This process allows users to measure the effectiveness of their products from a quantitative approach so we can adapt their formulas each month.
This combination of both qualitative and quantitative feedback loop has given us a database of over 2 million data points about skin through over 100,000 skin assessments. We understand people’s skin and skincare habits better than any company in the world. Ask me anything!
