I love how they don't even say his name. They just say "the drummer of scream"

Well because everybody knows that Scream band and Nirvana is so unknown

Man, I must've seen Rise Against at least two dozen times between 2001 and 2008. They used to do some cool shit at their shows. One of the last times I saw them, Tim came out and did a handful of acoustic Neil Young covers, and like three quarters of the audience had no idea what was happening, they just kept screaming for Swing Life Away. Glad to see they still do shit like this on occasion.

I can't blame them following the money, but I miss the Rise Against of The Unraveling and RPM. I've even got a bootleg cassette of the original Transistor Revolt demo in a closet somewhere. I thought The Sufferer and The Witness indicated, if not exactly a return to form, but at least a push towards a more interesting sound. Sadly, I think Appeal to Reason was the final nail in that coffin, I haven't heard anything great from them since the Fat 7".

I do agree that Appeal to Reason was a low point in their sound, and Endgame wasn't much better, but the albums since have been all quite good. Their upcoming album, if the singles are anything to go by, is set to be pretty damn spectacular.

We all have different tastes and heaven knows I have some unpopular ones sometimes, though.

The only new single I've heard is Nowhere Generation and I thought it was fairly bland. That said, I didn't really give Wolves much of a chance. Anything off that or any other new singles you think I'd be into?

Album sucks unfortunately. You can still hear moments of the energy about to turn up but Tim never screams and the songs never really get anything close to the energetic/angry anthems that we remember, then goes back to strummy hymns and rhythmic poppy boop chant type of sound the rest of their new stuff has.

Just got tickets to see them in a couple months because I'm dying for shows post quarantine, and I know they'll play some old stuff but... yeah, nothing great from them in a long time unfortunately. Still one of my all time favorite bands for that old ~2001-2006 era regardless.

At the very least give The Numbers a listen.

So I gave it a listen and I think it's better than most current-era Rise Against stuff, but like, it still just sounds like a watered down Blood-Red, White & Blue. All the rough edges have been rounded off, and Tim, who IMO hands down has the best voice in punk rock, only does that half-hearted yell-sing instead of the full scream he used to. Plus the song is like a minute and a half longer than it needs to be.

I feel terrible writing this, btw. I used to absolutely adore this band and The Unraveling, RPM, and The Sufferer and The Witness remain in my rotation to this day. Sadly, I think they're just not for me anymore.

The other singles have been Broken Dreams, inc and The Numbers. The Numbers is definitely more energetic, but I'd give both a try. If you thought Nowhere Generation was fairly bland though I don't think either will blow you out of the water.

I think it's funny how different people's opinions of the albums are. I love ATR and Endgame, thought TBM and Wolves were pretty meh, and I'm really liking Nowhere Generation.

Wow I read that wrong at first. "Rise against covering"? What? Dave Grohl is anti-mask? That doesn't sound right!

What makes you say Dave Grohl is anti-mask? I googled it and didn’t see anything about that

I think the comment was saying he misread the title and thought it was saying David grohl is anti mask.

The energy of this crowd is just not for me. Much rather be playing a basement show tbh

My thoughts as well

I really like the first few rise against albums but they're like this bland ass stadium pop punk band now and they're not even edgy or goofy about it

It's just not got the right feel to it... Id be bored in this crowd

Love me some Scream! Rise Against doing it makes it all that much better. Dave is also one of the coolest guys I've met in a very long time.
