MW3 end? *ENDING SPOILERS*

WARNING ENDING SPOILER

I got MW3 for christmas and when i got to the end of the campaign something doesn't makes sense. At the end you jump onto the helicopter that Makarov is trying to escape on and you kill the driver. What doesn't make sense is that after throwing the driver out you stab Makarov in the throat, yet after the copter crashes your on the ground and Makarov is standing and holding a gun on you. How is he in better condition if I stabbed him in the throat and we were both in the crash. Granted the final way of killing him is cooler but it was just something i noticed.
