Clueless Senior IT Management

The new VP of IT originally came from the land of the Indus valley. His background was as an Oracle developer, so his infrastructure knowledge was lacking, to say the least. But, like most developers, he thought he knew it all.

We were doing a SAN upgrade and the backplane failed and needed to be replaced. He was told that after the swap, like new cars, initially we would like to break it in before releasing it for production. We asked for a "burn-in window" to make sure it was performing OK.

The guy and his Mr. Chow PM then send an email to all the business heads crowing about how well they managed the project. They explained that the SAN repair needed "burning windows like in a new car" those were his exact words! Face palm time.

Nobody said anything, and this buffoon is still in charge. Reminded me of the IT Crowd episode when Jen showed the directors "the Internet"
