i really REALLY hate my hooded eyes. i've done some searching but haven't found anything that 'clicks' for me as far as tips and tricks are concerned. help?

i've searched pinterest, google images, google 'everything' for tutorials, tips, advice and the like for doing makeup for hooded eyes. my eyes aren't just hooded, the bit of skin that makes my eyes 'hooded' actually forms a bit of what i'd call a 'lip' over my lash line. it seems like no matter what kind of makeup i do i look like i've either over done it or done it poorly. :-(

I was given a 120 color palette from Shany Cosmetics that i've been experimenting with over the last couple of days- the colors are great, they show up better than some of the other drugstore brands i have. I also received the 20 or 24 piece (i can't remember the count!) brush set... i'm still trying to figure that out.

I'm no stranger to applying makeup. i've got the basics down pat. i've always wanted to do more with my eye makeup and i feel like i have some new tools to explore that with but my eyes (my eyes! lol. sheesh) are holding me back. blargh.

anyone else out there with hooded eyes? have any favorite sites, tips or tricks? i'm all ears and would be very much appreciative!
