Why aren't trigger warnings required on reddit?

I ask due to having recently seen this comment. This person was violently triggered due to an unfunny and tasteless rape joke. How much longer must victims suffer just so you can have a cheap laugh? I'm not asking for censorship or bans, I'm asking for some common sense cautions so that we don't make others relive the worst thing that's ever happened to them.
