ELI5: Torrenting Movies

First off, let me ask that if this is any way a bad idea (asking how to torrent movie) then please let me know and I will delete this. Otherwise I need some help as I am new to this.

I have been torrenting music for some time now. I know pretty much the ins and out of the process of that. Movies however have been kind of taboo for me...until recently. My girlfriend got me a pretty badass notebook for christmas and I want to download movies on it.

1. I use uTorrent
2. I downloaded DiVx
3. I downloaded something called VideoLan.

This inquiry comes from my recent torrent of the movie "Drive". The movie plays great on DiVx, but with no sound. It told me that DiVx was not able to process the audio and told me to download VideoLan. Now what I am able to do is play the video on DiVx and the audio on VideoLan. I just want to be able to watch my movie without having to do anything retarded like what I just described. Also, if anybody has any helpful tips as to make my experience with this as easy as possible that'd be great. Stuff like what to watch for.

Any help would be wonderful.
