What is a situation where you thought you were completely and royally screwed, that your life was over, but everything turned out just fine?
Mine: Went on a trip to Canada with the BF; we were driving my car. We get to the border and are in line to go through when I suddenly remember... I have a gun in the trunk of my car. It's too late to turn around, and I know I can't lie about it. I figure I'll tell them it was a mix up, that I simply forgot it was there, and everything would be just fine.
We get to the border and they ask the routine questions... when they ask if I have any firearms I answer yes, tell them it was a simple mistake, and the woman seems like it's no big deal. Hands me a slip of paper, tells me to park off to the side. We park and the border police come up and ask me to roll down all the windows, give them my keys, and to go inside the border station.
At this point, I'm a little nervous. We finally get to talk to someone, and he asks for our IDs, etc. He then asks for our phones and tells us if there is a lock code on the phones, to remove them...
I go into full blown panic mode at this point. The guy starts asking all sorts of questions. I'm getting nervous, and he notices. He asks me why I'm so nervous if I have nothing to hide, and then tells me to sit down.
He talks to my boyfriend for awhile, gives him a pat down, then asks me to come up. I get the pat down (like at the airport), and then he asks me if I own any handcuffs. Completely confused, I tell him no. He asks if my boyfriend does, and again, I tell him no. I go back and sit down. I told my boyfriend what he asked me, and he said that he had brought handcuffs as a surprise... you know, for sexy time (the handcuffs were in the car in a bag that they searched, and he had the keys on his person).
Soo at this point, we aren't looking too great, since we are young 20 somethings with tattoos and piercings with a gun and handcuffs that one person seemingly doesn't know about.
Since we were waiting, I turn around to look out the window at my car. Then I see a drug dog searching my car... and hope there is nothing to find... since we had just been smoking hours earlier. HOURS EARLIER. My heart is racing and I actually started to cry. I'm thinking "this is it, I'm going to be fined, my car will be impounded, and we will both go to jail". It was the single most nerve wracking moment EVER.
The guy calls me back up and I immediately tell him that I didn't know my boyfriend brought handcuffs but he told me and I'm fine with it. He tells me that he "just wanted to make sure that anything we do is consensual".
We ended up checking out just fine, got my car, but couldn't enter Canada. It was a Sunday, so we're back in the US, and have to find a place to store the gun. We gave it to a young gas station attendant who said he would "totally hang on to it" until we returned two days later... figured I'd never see the gun again. But, two days later, totally got it back.
TL;DR: got kicked out of canada for having a gun, dog drug searched my car, gave gun to gas station attendant and got it back.
