Newbie needs some help...

Hey guys I just found this /r. So basically I am going to ask some questions you have probably gone over many times before.

My uncle has done a ton of research. He did it the old fashioned way with elbow grease and shoe leather. He isn't into anything online and the info he has is in a Lotus spreadsheet. However he has traced our family back to 13th century England. High points in the tree include Oliver Cromwell and Dolly Madison (well, and me...I kid!).

He is rightfully very proud of his work. EVERYTHING is sourced. He is going to give me the file in the hopes I will use some online resources. So here I am to ask you to point me in the right direction.

What website do you suggest I use when I already have a great deal of information? Although I am intrigued as to where else the trail may lead if I can leverage online databases. So...ancestry.com? Other suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the assistance. Also, any other words f advice are welcome!
