Is there a term for when people say that things were better back then, and the current time is bad?

Sorry, I phrased it poorly in the title. Is there a term for when people recall things better than they actually were? Such as, Jim saying he could buy a gallon of gas for $1 back in his day, but in reality it was actually $1.50. That's probably a poor example, but I hope you get what I'm trying to ask.
