OTP friends question

How in the world do you create a room online so that you can play with your friends while still playing with randoms? Is there a way to invite your friends to rooms? I keep wanting to play with some peeps I know, but we keep going to drop in hoping to be in the same room. I have a feeling this question has a really easy answer, but I just can't see it. Any help would be great, thanks!
