Need help remembering game title.

Not sure why but remembering this game title has been bothering me lately. Hopefully one of you guys played it and will be able to help me out. I have played this game once when i was younger at a friend's house. Don't have friend's contact info... been a really long time.

I am unsure but it could be a PS1 title maybe a PS2 game(very unlikely though).. It is an rpg with sprites. The beginning is with the protagonist crashing his spaceship... He fights with his laser gun until it malfunctions and he is left to fight with a sword. First boss battle is of the protagonist saving some girl from some forced wedding... Please bear in mind its been years and I've only played it once for less than an hour so my description up top may be wrong..
