To Theist: Does God want human kind to last forever?

This could be considered a two part question:

1. (and I assume this would only apply to YEC) Do you accept that one day many, many, many years from now the sun will implode?

2. Does God have a plan for mankind at that time?

What I'm getting at is, does God have an end game for the human race? Or are we (as in humans as a whole) only suppose to exist for a pre-defined amount of time?

Is this covered by your God returning? (Jesus returning, for example, in Christianity, or Dec 2012 in the Mayan Calendar, or any of the other [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End_time ]('end time' prophecies).)
