weaning from co-sleeping...newborn edition.

we've got a 16 day old newbie here, and please let me know if it's just too early. we've been co-sleeping between daddy and i since she came home from the hospital. it wasn't our choice to co-sleep, but we had a horrible first night home and we put her in bed with us just in an effort to get some rest. we're not interested in continuing this trend, but i do understand that it may not be our decision in this case.

i have tried getting her to sleep in the bassinet. i don't let her cry for any amount of time in an effort for her to feel safe and comfortable in the bassinet. i will either nurse or rock her to a deep sleep (floppy hand), but as soon as she is tucked into the bassinet, she's awake. she sometimes will make it about 15 minutes. she won't nap in it either. she will nap in her swing or her bouncy chair, but not the bassinet. i don't want to start a bad habit of sleeping in the swing (my niece wouldn't sleep in anything but her carseat or swing for the first 9 months of life and i'm not interested in that), so we're not even going to introduce that.

does anyone have any suggestions for getting her to sleep? the bassinet has a little music player and vibrates, but they only work for 15 minutes before automatically shutting off so i am a little wary of using either of those as she just wakes up when they stop. it also rocks, but only manually, and again...we have to stop sometime.

is it just too soon to start weaning? we'll keep co-sleeping if we have to but would prefer not to as daddy and i just aren't getting quality sleep. we also don't have the money to buy a co-sleeping bassinet. any suggestions are most definitely welcome! thank you!

TL;DR - 16 day old won't sleep on her own for any length of time.
