Job Pickle, Looking for Advice
Hi r/jobs.
I have a little pickle I am in. Six months ago my boss promised me a promotion to the next pay band in my company but it never happends. I also felt like my boss was coming up with ideas for projects but they were not felt out and when they got complete with the project no one in my team really used it. I was employeed to be a engineer but I am really a programmer now. I help with automation and trying to make the other engineers life easier. But a couple of months ago I got tired of making up these tools that I felt no one used and starting to look for outside employment. I found it. Its an ad group about 40 minutes away, closer to the city, culture and age group around what I am and my job title would be what I am actully doing. Django/Python Development. I would be with people around my own age, stress free job. I currenly have to do stuff that I dont really ever need to do but have to because I was hired as a engineer. I am pretty much a hidden resource. But anyway, I would be doing django development which is where I see myself going and enjoying, people around my age, I am young and moved to a area that I dont know anyone still kind of dont.
But they sent me a offer, its the same salary, they pay for half benefits, dont match 401k which my current job does, up to 4%. Should I see if they can give me a better offer and take it? Use this as a power play aginst my current postion and boost my salary? or what? Just looking for some help.
Thanks
