DAE feels sometimes the whole Universe is in a conspiracy for you to never get a girlfriend?

I was (by a strike of luck) invited to a small birthday party of a girl that I know from high school.

She is currently doing Med School, and has a bunch of girl friends, so I was thinking that maybe that was the night I'd meet some cool girls! That night I'd stop going out with my usual social group that is a bunch of social awkward males and get to know cool, intelligent girls! I couldn't be more excited!

Arriving at the restaurant, me and my friends are informed that all her friends ditched her, so she changed the date of the party. As we were already there, me, my usual group and the birthday girl grabbed a few beers and a steak dinner...as usual, I can't complain saying that it was a BAD night, but it was far from THE night! It felt really annoying how even when everything seems to be going well, some thing appears and it's all screwed up...

Edit: Okay, so I obviously shouldn't have used the hyperbole of saying "Universe". It's distracting people and the message is missing it's point. What I meant is "DAE feels sometimes that you are just ment to be alone?", only said in a more passional-emotional way...
