New MBP, what SSD and RAM should I use to upgrade? [xPost from /r/applehelp]

Hey guys I know this is primarily a windows driven subreddit but if you have any advice please throw it at me! I want to top out performance with this laptop so I'm thinking of an SSD and RAM upgrade and made this post in r/applehelp -

I was lucky enough to get a new Mac Book Pro for christmas and I want to beef it up a little with the addition of an SSD and an upgrade to 8gb RAM. This is my first apple product so I'm at the beginning of the learning curve for apple hardware/software.

I'm not sure of how choose an SSD with regard to a laptop. In a desktop I would opt for more performance oriented SSD so my question is this - Will there be any drawbacks when choosing an SSD that is performance oriented? For the RAM my understanding is that I can get just about any 1333 set. Are there any concerns or things to look for when choosing RAM?
