IJW Big Fish

I had forgotten how good this movie is. I was pretty young when it came out several years back and don't think I really got all of the emotional depth that's in the movie.

I had never really thought of Tim Burton as capable of eliciting a strong emotional reaction with his films, he's always portrayed in conjunction with his signature visual flair; however, this movie really flies in the face of that stereotype. Thinking back on it, Edward Scissorhands is one of the more bittersweet movies I've ever seen.

Besides appreciating the genuinely heartfelt delivery, it's interesting to watch this movie as the story of a man trying to find legitimate meaning within his own life, and the tension that can cause with his interactions with others. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and do so as soon as possible.
