IAmA "Matthew McConaughey" Catholic from 'Contact'

I would like to think of myself as an educated adult who not only excelled at many different liberal art subjects in college (as a History major with a concentration in Medieval Studies), but also dedicated myself to pursuit of scientific knowledge.

That being said, I have a deep seeded faith, which regardless of what anyone says or does, refuses to be changed. Many of the quotes from Palmer Joss' character (played by Matthew McConaughey) truly touch my human spirit. He in many ways portrays my version of faith. Though it may not be that interesting, and I may be the focus of ridicule, I still felt compelled to share my self evaluation.

Below are a few of my favorite quotes from the movie:

"I'm not against technology, doctor. I'm against the men who deify it at the expense of human truth."

"Is the world fundamentally a better place because of science and technology? We shop at home, we surf the Web... at the same time, we feel emptier, lonelier and more cut off from each other than at any other time in human history..."

"As a person of faith I'm bound by a different covenant than Doctor Arroway. But our goal is one and the same: the pursuit of Truth. I for one believe her."
