Are you immune to advertising?

I grew up in the 90's. Ever since I was aware of my surroundings, I have been bombarded by advertising from every angle, every media, at every opportunity.

As a result, I think I have become numb and immune to almost every modern form of advertising. When I am encountered with advertising that is unavoidable, I feel myself becoming detached and pay literally no attention. When it is avoidable, I avoid it.

Advertising on television is skipped through, the channel changed during commercials. I flick over magazine advertisements as if they weren't there. Adblock protects me from most web ads; but the ads I do allow I still skip over without a bit of attention.

When I want to buy something, I completely ignore all advertising - for instance I was recently shopping for a coffee machine and I googled "Reddit best coffee machine". I researched the product and bought the one which was most highly recommended and best regarded. Advertising did not come into play at all.

Is anyone else like this? I really just genuinely feel with the advent of the Internet that the best kind of advertising is a good product which will get good reviews.

When shopping for most electricals it is the same. When grocery shopping, I generally buy the cheapest products available. The same goes for essentially everything I buy - it will be bought on a formula constructed from the best reviewed and best price.
