Can anyone help?

I've been playing Skyrim for about 2 days now, i'm level 9. I've been getting this annoying red screen every time I go outside from a building. Until recently I've started being attacked for it. For example, today I walked into Whiterun, no problems, I went t use the forge and make some armour to sell. After using the forge my screen turned red, faded, weird music played, and then about 4 guards started attacking me. I don't know if this is part of the game, because like I said I'm fairly new, but it's interfering with my gameplay. So please, if anyone knows anything, help me out?
