How am I supposed to respond to compliments? (I'm being serious).
I know this probably sounds like a stupid question but I honestly would like some info on how to do this properly.
I don't know what it is but when I respond to peoples compliments I feel like I'm being super awkward/weird. For example: someone will say something along the lines of "nice jacket". Not "where did you get it" or anything like that, just the simple compliment.
Now obviously I say thank you. That's a given. But I feel I can never just end it with that. Sometimes I try to compliment back, but it never seems to go along that easy.
ex: They will say "nice jacket" and I will say '"thanks yours is nice too" and they wont be wearing one.
Sometimes what happens is I will start giving details that they didn't ask for or want to hear.
ex: "Wow great catch" "Thanks I once played little league when I was 7. I was an outfielder."
I don't know what it is, maybe I'm just not expecting it or whatever but when people compliment me I say really stupid shit and basically I want to know if there is some way I can make myself look like less of a tard/douchebag.
So how do I do that?
