How come we never see custom maps posted?

I've heard a lot about how the new battle.net system makes it very hard for new custom maps to gain popularity or be actually played if you host them. Why aren't there more posts for custom maps on r/starcraft? I feel like this would be a great place for unrecognized gems to get the publicity they need.
