Help with Renekton...
Ive been experimenting a lot with Renekton lately. This is because he is in a weird spot, in my eyes. Hes strong earøy, but too much of a nonfactor late to warrant a buff. However, I feel that even the slightest buff would make him ridicilously OP...
Now, a lot of toplaners usually have high base defense or damage (or both). Renekton has no directly defensive abilities, and neither does he have amazing defensive attributes. Meanwhile, tops like Jarvan, Irelia, Cho, Trynd, Riven, Rumble all have passives or abilities that enhances their attacks, making damage items less important. Now, Reneks Fury passive kind of does the same thing, but only for one ability at a time. In my opinion, Renek is one of the most annoying earlygame champs to lane against, since his sustain, mobility and damage is great. But his damage and sustain falls of way to fast when his opponents catch up.
This has lead me to the same approach as I take when playing LeBlanc (for similar falloff reasons); make them surrender at 20. As should be suspected, this comes at the cost of your lategame, so it is kind of risky. What I found, is that if your opponent is passive enough, you will wreck them, and destroy all their dreams if you get a early BF Sword. If you can spare the defensive stats for now, get cooldown boots, and aim for a Bloodthirster. My own reason for getting BT over IE is its cost mainly, and the potential 100 AD it brings, since your not planning on dying, really. Lifesteal doesnt proc on his Q or E, but it does steal off of his W, witch does a FUCKTON of dmg with fury. Run normal AD masteries, and autoattack+W+Q will keep you healthy.
And then comes the more controversial thing; Summoner Heal. I tend to not run Flash on Renek, simply because I just E my way through their gank if they catch me off guard. So if you can throw in a Heal and Exhaust, once you ding lvl 6, you wont die. You have a potential 400 HP instant heal, which you can combine with your ult to rape them after they commited to fighting you one on one (silly people). To round out the start, I go for an Frozen Mallet and Atmas for survivability/sustained dmg. The FrozenMas combo actually transfers pretty good into metagolem lategame anyway, and if you pulled this of correctly ypu either; 1. Raped them 2. Made them counterbuild you, delaying THEIR lategame aswell, or possibly 3. failed hard and you couldnt do jack shit lategame. GG.
OK, and a slightly TL;DR version without my ramblings. What do you think of these early game goals;
Boots - BF Sword (or Wriggles, your choice) - CD boots - Phage or finish Bloodthirster - The other - Frozen Mallet - Atmas.
Flat AD marks Armor yellows Flat CD/scaling MR blues MS/ArPen quints.
Exhaust/Flash.
Ive yet to lose a lane with this, and with this build, you finish strong in midgame. What do you think is good/bad with this? Id love to see some input on this setup!
