"I have the high ground!"?

Alright. So the whole "I have the high ground" thing has always bothered me, as I know it has a lot of people. But after watching the Blu-rays this weekend, something dawned on me. Something so obvious, its been staring me in the face all this time and need some of your more advanced expertise on this, reddit.

Kenobi killed Darth Maul with the exact same move Anakin attempted in Ep. 3. How have I not noticed this before??? If anything, Kenobi has a more difficult maneuver to make, since he starts it hanging precariously at a much steeper angle.

So how then, is Kenobi able to do it, and not Anakin?

If there's some backstory to this, that we just don't see, I can almost even start to buy into the whole, "I have the high ground" thing.

Anakin is entranced by the story of how his master defeated Maul. He asks about it all the time. Kenobi constantly explains that it was mere luck, that Maul's arrogance blinded him to the chance he could be defeated by such a last ditch effort, and the move was a once in a lifetime thing. But Anakin is obsessed with the maneuver and continues to fixate on it. So when we arrive to the duel on Mustafar, Anakin jumps at the chance to end his Master with the very move he has fixated on for so many years. But ultimately proves Kenobi right.

If the Clone Wars would show a sparring session between the two depicting this conversation, I would feel sooooo much better about this whole "high ground" business. Don't you think?

Am I crazy? Has this been common knowledge all this time, and I'm just now noticing it? Am I trying to rationalize another stupid moment in the prequels?

Help me reddit, you're my only hope!
