Hello! In two months, I'll be studying in Fremantle for 5 months. Help a foreigner out?

Hello!

I'm currently a student in the US who will be studying abroad in Fremantle (NDAU) for about 4-5 months. And one of the things I want to avoid is not taking advantage of all the opportunities for fun when I'm there, so I was hoping you guys can help a foreigner out. I posted here because there were only 10 people in the NDAU subreddit.

  1. I just want to say how excited I am to be coming to Australia, are there some "must-see" places in Australia as a whole and in the Western region I should make an effort to visit?

  2. What is the common sentiment towards the Yanks shared by the locals. I am, by no means, a stereotypical caucasian American. Hell, I'm not even white. But I understand that our cultures are different, so I would not like to be in a situation where I'm being blatantly disrespectful.

  3. I'm going to guess that most of you guys are young people. I'm 20, aside from college events, what are some ways to meet people of my age in W. Australia. Is it mostly through bars? Sports? Etc?

  4. What's the most popular sport in Australia?

  5. Do any of you want to meet up some day? I'll be more than happy to buy you a beer!

Thanks guys! If there's anything else you think I should know, please do share :)

Edit: Thank you dearly for your warm welcome! Upvotes for all!
