Question about the size of the universe.

Hey guys need help wrapping my head around this idea. This may sound like a stupid question but its got me pretty stumped.

  • The big bang theory says that the universe expanded outward from a single point 13.75 billion years ago
  • matter cannot travel faster than the speed of light.

How can the universe be bigger than 13.75 billion light years across?

Edit: Spelling and forgot to include that wikipedia says that the observable universe is 93 billion light years across, which just makes no sense to me at all given the age of the universe
