Help On Reddit!

Im a little new to Reddit. I have been just observing posts for a while now but i was wondering how people post things along with a meme? I have gone on imgur, and have seen all the memes there as well. Can someone please help on how to add text on the photo? also is there a special application people use to make cartoons? Thanks a ton!
