Arnaud's French 75 for New Year's Eve?

My man friend is coming into town for New Year's Eve this year, which is a Big Deal since we're long distance. I want to show him a classy night out on the town. The French 75 bar has always been on my list and I thought we might go there for the evening before (maybe) heading toward the river for fireworks.

Has anyone ever been there - specifically on New Year's? I don't mind going early to secure a seat but I'm not looking for it to be total madness.
