Hello, I'm an agnostic atheist and just wanted to say...
It's obvious without religion we would not be here today. We would not have come this far. It helped focus our thoughts and bring us together. It is an essential stepping stone for a better tomorrow. And for that I am thankful. For your god. And all the gods, and spirits for helping lift up man.
And you're right. The science is incomplete. There are big holes out there in our knowledge and those holes are where a god might exist. And its because of those gaps in science that I'm an "agnostic" atheist. It's just like saying "I don't know for sure". Today, nobody... not any scientist or holy man knows for sure.
Science does know some things however. You gotta give it credit. We have some pretty cool things right now. We're all scientists at heart. We learn from our mistakes, we try new things, we toss out the bad. We question ourselves before bed and think about a how we can grow tomorrow.
The truth is out there. And I bet there might be a bit of both sides. So until someone proves there is no god, you go right on ahead and believe that we are a part of something greater than ourselves... and the scientist in you should always question that belief. And question your faith so that you can have a better understanding of the universe around you and ultimately, your relationship to god.
Don't throw away new science, and new discoveries just because it conflicts with something written in the past. Build a better tomorrow, learn from mistakes and build a better quest for god.
-- That and have a safe holiday's!
