Going to be sitting on a beach for a week in two days, easy read recommendations?

Some books I have read this past year and enjoyed: The manual of detection, Machine man, something about curious dog incident i forget the title. Yea not that big a reader, but I'm trying to get back into it and usually go for a light mystery that is not about murder, i prefer heist and theft or something fantasy-ish like a lord of the rings. I also have an engineering/science background so something light but techy is cool too. I was thinking about getting a book on the SR-71 off amazon but thought I would check with you guys for recs first. Thanks!
