Where to get internet in KC?

So, I just moved to this city today (one of the downtown lofts) and I'd like to get internet set up, but I'm not really sure if one of the providers is well known to be cheaper/more reliable/better than the others. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows anything about the benefits/disadvantages of getting one of those satellite USB things or whatever that just hook the computer into the internet versus getting it for a specific apartment, I'd love any advice.
