the Sapling system. (questioned)

I just questioned myself on how the system works. When you start out you are known as a Sapling right? How long is it till they're referred to as Ents, is it after one year? Or is there even a full system yet? Mainly why I asked this question is because i started smoking trees on Spring Break.
