Looking for a place to start with Ancient Greek history.
Hey there r/history.
I'm hoping someone can recommend a good starter book for me to get a grounding in Greek history. I'm probably looking around undergrad level, I've got little background in history but am well read in biology, mathematics, physics and philosophy - hence my interest.
I'm particularly interested in trying to work out what it was about Greek society whichever allowed them to found, and make advances beyond their times, in so many different fields.
The more I read about the Greeks, the more it amazes me just how important they were to the development of so many fields of study that we still partake it today.
