I want to move to NC get out of FL but my son wouldn't be able to go with me... I am torn and am not sure what to do.

I left my family and friends 8 years ago and moved to Florida to be with my now ex-wife. We had a son that just just turned 6 this year. My current schedule is I get him every other weekend Friday to Sun or Monday if he feels like staying or not. It's hard taking him during the week because we live about 30-45 minutes apart from each other, so dropping him off in school sucks because it's stressful for him to get up 2 hours earlier than he normally does to get there.

I thought about just moving closer but it's currently out of the question. The city they live in is high priced and I couldn't afford it, on top of that I have 2 big dogs and most people don't like renting to people with big dogs.

A little back story. The few friends I had when I moved down here my ex got, the other few she didn't know we just grew apart. I currently have full custody of my daughter and a new fiance that loves me to pieces.

One day we were talking and I told her I couldn't stand Florida. I was tired of the weather, the people, and the lack of friends and having any kind of social life. I tried making friends but I could never really connect, people down here seem so .... shady. Anyway I explained I wanted to get away, I felt like I couldn't be anymore involved in my son's life because of the distance and constant activities he's in.

I need some family and friends in my life again. I have been battling severe anxiety and depression for 20 years. I lost both my parents, my father as recent as 5 years ago, and have no siblings. I have very little family left and wanted to be closer to them. My cousin who is like my younger brother is also moving to NC to start a job in a few months so he would only be an hour away.

My issue is I feel so guilty... I feel like I am letting my son down and am being a bad parent. This decision is killing me because I can see both sides of the coin but can't figure out what I should do.

If I move my plan is to arrange to take him the summer months and maybe spring break / winter break so he can stay with me during those times. I'm NOT going to completely abandon him.

This is something I would normally ask my Dad what I should do... I haven't had that in 5 years... I feel like I have no one ask for help.
