Is the game this hard, or do I just suck?

I got the game yesterday, and holy crap; This game is HARD. I am at the very beginning, at the Asylum Demon. This thing has kicked my ass more than 15 times. Is this game this hard, or do I just suck? Either way, I aint stoppin' til I beat this fucker.

edit: I just killed him. I feel so great, this game rocks.
