(Pickups) Some Christmas, some pawn shop grabs.
UP Four Disc BluRay/DVD/Digital Copy/Special Features ($5)
I didn't really like this movie in the theater, but I am going to give it another chance. However, for $5 this was worth it just to have the best edition and the special features disc.
Milo and Otis ($1)
I really like this movie, it was made before they started making all the animals' mouths move to make them talk. BUT, as I popped this in to watch, it was only then I realized it was FULLSCREEN. Why do they even make FULLSCREEN? UGH. Looks like this will be released on January 24th on BluRay/DVD combo in widescreen.
Throw Momma From the Train ($1)
This was a blind grab, but I know it's a classic.
How I Met Your Mother Season 4 ($4)
BFTP got me into this show, with the pirated DVDs he sent for the Project Care Package drive. I have been watching seasons 1-3 and really like the show a lot! Now, I can continue on to season 4, it's gonna be Legen....wait for it......Dary!
"Weird Al" Ultimate Video Collection (Gift)
This was from alliterativegenius during one of our pawn shopping trips. I think he is super entertaining, and have never seen this disc at a pawn shop before. There are so many videos I have never seen!
Notorious BIG - Bigger than Life (Gift)
Another gift from alliterativegenius, I like documentaries and I like Biggies music, although being from the West Coast, I was always a Death Row fan. But now, the music lives on and I can like Big and Pac.
A Fistful of Dollars ($1)
I was so excited to watch this yesterday, especially after the Back to the Future marathon I had on Christmas. This is the movie that Biff is watching with the girls in the hot tub and says "Bulletproof vest, great friggin flick!"
In the Heat of the Night ($2)
Trying to build up my Sidney Poitier collection, another blind get.
Jackie Chan's First Strike ($1)
Found this and picked it up based on JingWuMen's recommendation. Still need to watch this one and report back.
Willow ($1)
I can't remember if I have ever seen this movie or not. I definitely quote the line: "You ARE great" enough. Need to watch this one.
Breakfast at Tiffany's ($1)
Blind grab, based on this being a cinematic treasure.
The Man From Laramie/The Desparadoes ($1)
I forgot that I had seen and own TMFL, but I have never seen the other one. Floppay, what do you think?
Gabriel Iglesias / I'm Not Fat, I'm Fluffy ($1)
Pretty good, fairly clean standup comedian. This is the second one I have of his.
Twilight Eclipse two-disc ($2)
Been looking for this edition of this movie for a long time. Finally found it!
Gulliver's Travels ($2)
This is the Max Fleischer cartoon from 1939, and I remember having seen parts of this. I am looking forward to watching it again.
From Wikipedia:
Gulliver was the second cel-animated feature film ever released, and the first produced by an American studio other than Walt Disney Productions.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Ultimate Collector's Edition BluRay (gift)
This was my favorite gift for Christmas this year, from alliterativegenius. I will do an unboxing video for this soon!
Back to the Future BluRay 25th Anniversary Trilogy (Gift)
This replaced my DVD version I had, which I was able to give to my brother, martmcfly24. So awesome, we had a Christmas marathon with the trivia fact popups on!
Band of Brothers BluRay ($5)
I have heard so many of you talking about this, that I have always been keeping an eye out for it. Kind of a funny story how I got this for so cheap. I asked how much the Blus were, and he said $5 unless there is a sticker, then they are $8. This had a sticker, so I asked to see it out of the case. I opened it up and inside I saw spanish writing on the discs, and the international age warnings that I see on European collectors boxes. However, I know that Mexico is the same region as the US for BluRays (Thanks to research done because I belong to this subreddit) and I knew it would play in my PS3. So, I told him he was going to have a hard time selling it because of that, and he offered it to me for $5. SOLD!
Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry Ultimate Collector's Edition (Gift)
I have never seen any of these movies, but as a new Eastwood fan, I am super excited to. I will post unboxing pictures of this because there are some really cool things inside of it!
History & Heritage Film Collection Volume 2 (Gift)
This was a gift from my mom, madamecontrary. She saw me looking at it at HPB. I am interested in the history of black cinema / blaxploitation, and really all African-American history. Here is a list of the movies included:
JUKE JOINT Whitney Vanderbilt (Spencer Williams Jr.) and "Cornbread" Green (July Jones) are a pair of pals who spend a night out on the town with only twenty-five cents between them. But when Whitney turns on the charm for some wealthy ladies, money will be the least of their concerns!
THE BRONZE BUCKAROO When cowboy Bob Blake (Herbert Jeffrey) looks into the mysterious disappearance of his pal Joe, he discovers that his friend owns a plot of very valuable land that villainous Pete wants to get his greedy hands on.
GO DOWN, DEATH! In order to drum up business for his juke joint that has been going downhill since a new preacher has come to town, mob boss Big Jim Bottoms (Spencer Williams Jr.) plots to frame the reverend for adultery, winding up with a nasty case of conscience instead.
THE BLOOD OF JESUS When Martha (Cathryn Caviness) is accidentally shot when her husband is cleaning his hunting rifle, her spirit hovers at the crossroads between life and death. There, Satan attempts to lure Martha from the path of righteousness by showing her the pleasures of sin.
THE GIRL IN ROOM 20 When an innocent girl (Geraldine Brock) leaves the peace of the country for urban life in the Big Apple, she falls victim to hustlers and conmen alike--until she wises up and refuses to be led astray again.
SON OF INGAGI In this sci-fi thriller, a newlywed couple is visited by a strange old woman who harbors a shocking secret about the young girl's father.
THE GIRL FROM CHICAGO Carl Mahon (Alonzo White) is a federal secret agent who goes on assignment in Mississippi, meets and falls in love with a young woman (Starr Calloway) and winds up rescuing her from a bad-to-the-bone local big shot (John Everett).
LYING LIPS When a beautiful singer is brutally murdered, her vengeful boyfriend turns sleuth and investigates to uncover the killer's identity.
