A weird idea for a wrestling program...thoughts?
So I was thinking about the fact that as time's gone on, wrestling fans have wised up to the fact that it's not as...unscripted...as they would have us believe it is. And as time has gone on, these same shows have slowly embraced that fact and incorporated it into the show. My idea completely embraces the scripted nature of wrestling. If you will...
Imagine a two hour show depicting the weekly events of a wrestling federation. The first hour of the show is the actual wrestling, the "sports" of "sports-entertainment', if you will. This would be the matches, the interviews, ect. Kayfabe is enforced 100% here, no 'wink-wink, it's not real' attitude.
Then, the second hour would be a pure episodic drama, much like a prime time television show like House or Law and Order. The wrestlers of the sports show become the characters of this show. This show would depict the drama behind the scenes: the friends and enemies among the roster, a corrupt promoter trading a female wrestler a heavy push for sexual favors, problems on the road and at home, ect.
Then, the events from the two shows bleed into each other. What happens backstage in the entertainment show affects what happens in front of the crowd in the sports show. You would have to watch both shows in order to each show.
Thoughts?
