[PS3] Unresponsive Menus

On my way from Whiterun to the greybeards I noticed that if I told my follower to trade items the menu would never come up. I also couldn't read any of the stone texts on the way up the 7000 steps. It prompts me to press x but nothing happens when I do. I also can't activate the rotating pieces in a dungeon's puzzle. Is this a known issue for the PS3? Is there any known fix?

EDIT:More Info - I have Sven as a follower and if I talk to him and select "I want to trade some things with you" he says "Sure what can I hold for you" and waits and the actual menu never comes up. This also happens with any NPC that sells anything. I also cannot "activate" anything. when i walk up to something, the word "activate" or "Read" shows up with the prompt to press X but x does nothing. This kills the gameplay.
