Thinking of buy the Kindle but have a few questions.

So I am a biology major undergrad and I rather read the pdf of my textbooks and scientific articles on an ereader than my laptop. Is the kindle capable to presenting my textbooks nicely and easy to read? The textbooks have a lot of figures and pictures. If the kindle isn't the best fit, is there any other ereader that I can read textbooks with ease?
