Skyrim: More control over gameplay; better decision-making?

I think the TES series has been doing pretty good recently, but the only thing I have seen a lack of is decision-making. Yes, I understand that in skyrim you choose to kill imperials or stormcloaks. woo. But why can't we be the Emperor of Cyrodill?? Why can't we be the Jarl of Solitude?? Or maybe the High King of all of Skyrim! I want to be able to wage war between Riften and Winterhold. I'm DRAGONBORN. By Ysmir, I just killed Alduin and all I get is to be the lousy thane of Whiterun? So what! I'm expecting a little more gameplay-changing decisions in VI... So what does Reddit think? Do you guys (and girls) agree?
