Darkmoon Card Volcano

A few months ago I bought myself the Darkmoon Card Volcano trinket. This was back in early Cata when it was best in slot for mages. Now, I have replaced it with Foul Gift of the Demon Lord / Rune of Zeth. Some simulators, however, say that it is still better than both of those trinkets. It does have a lot of mastery that can be reforged to crit (very important for fire mages). Should I keep using DMCV or drop it for the gain in item level? Thoughts?
