Sage questions

So I was wondering about the sage class. Is is possible to play it more based around damage and still some saber work? I know it is a healer mostly and has some telekinetic Damage but is anyone playing dps focus?? I ask because I leveled up a consular to level 14ish but went shadow and honestly it didn't really do much for me as the hurling rocks was more fun for me, and I almost always play a stealth class so I didn't really want to again. Should I bother trying Sage?? Any thoughts?
