Hey, /r/Temple. Let's talk about meetups.
This past semester, we began our weekly Friday meetups. Great times were had, but as the semester went on attendance started to drop. We've heard your complaints: Inconvenient for commuters, need fun things to do, etc. So here's what I propose:
-
We need meetup coordinators. I'm thinking three: One to represent the residents, one to represent the commuters, and another that works with both. These people would be in charge of organizing meetups and relaying the necessary information to the moderators so we can sticky it. I'm not set on three; if people feel there should be more, that's fine, we just need someone in charge of these things. If you're interested, let me know. I've met a few people who would be excellent resident candidates, but I'd really like to talk to a commuter who's interested in helping out here. Message me if you're interested.
-
We need ideas. You've said you want to go out and do things. Rock climbing, hiking, geocaching, restaurant nights, and many other ideas have come up. These are great- if you want to do one, though, we'll need details. What? When? How? Get these together, and we can start pulling something together.
-
We need your input. Okay, so a lot of you can't do Friday at 5. Understood. What works, then? Also, should they be weekly? Biweekly (for both meanings of the word)? Monthly? Do we want to do small meetups frequently with a less frequent big meetup? Speak your mind.
Finally, we need a better way to communicate. I'm working on a listserv-esque system (Preferably not listserv, don't worry), and will make it known when it's ready.
